Friday Face-Off is an idea originally thought up by Books By Proxy which I stole from the fantastic The Tattooed Book Geek. The idea originally was to compare UK and US covers based on an assigned theme each week and choose the winning cover. I will be twisting it slightly: not specifically US and UK covers, just different editions.
This week’s theme is a cover with train tracks: Falling off the rails.
For this week’s cover I went for a children’s classic. What better option for the theme of train tracks then E. Nesbit’s The Railway Children.
Cover A:
Cover B:
Cover C:
Cover D:
Cover E:
Cover F:
Cover G:
And the winner is… COVER C!
This cover brings something in its style. It is reminiscent of travel posters from the golden age of travel. I really like this one. I love the covers where the train is clearly a focus, such as cover G, but C is so different it wins it for me this week!
What are your thoughts? Do you agree with my winner, or does one of the others work better for you? Let me know in the comments!
Next week’s theme: 18th November – “The sun did not shine. It was too wet to play. So we sat in the house. All that cold, cold, wet day” – a cover with stormy weather.
Cover A for me it epitomises what the book is about, but I do see where you coming from with your comments about the poster look alike lol

I liked cover C as well! Although I haven’t read the book. 🙂
