Friday Face-Off is an idea originally thought up by Books By Proxy which I stole from the fantastic The Tattooed Book Geek. The idea originally was to compare UK and US covers based on an assigned theme each week and choose the winning cover. I will be twisting it slightly: not specifically US and UK covers, just different editions.
This week’s theme is a cover with shoes: “Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world.”
I did a little digging around and landed upon a Hans Christian Anderson’s The Red Shoes.
Cover A:
Cover B:
Cover C:
Cover D:
And the winner is… COVER B!
This week’s Face-Off was a no-brainer for me. It was simple, but had a sense of energy and movement. I liked the simple colours with the splash of red for the shoes.
What are your thoughts? Do you agree with my winner, or does one of the others work better for you? Let me know in the comments!
Next week’s theme: 23rd December – “The first Noël” – a cover with angels.
Totally agree with B. Isn’t is amazing how a cover affects the reader?

Nope Cover A for me thought the red shoes more striking on that one lol

A was my choice too. B is good but you have to look too hard for the shoes. And how did D ever get beyond the first stage of selection?

Mainly because it was just an alternative cover option! 😂

I don’t know which I’d pick, I had a really hard time this week with the theme.😂
