Friday Face-Off – 16th March 2018

The Friday Face-Off is a meme originally created by Books by Proxy and now hosted over at Lynn’s Books. The idea is to compare the different covers of a book with each week being a certain theme.

This weeks’ theme is a cover featuring a puppet or doll: ‘I got no strings to hold me down.’

This week I picked Puppet on a Chain by Alistair MacLean.

Cover A:

puppet1

Cover B:

puppet2

Cover C:

puppet3

Cover D:

puppet4
Cover E:

puppet5

Cover F:

puppet6

Cover G:

puppet7

Cover H:

puppet8

And the winner is… COVER C!

I found C to have something menacing and creepy. For some strange reason I was far more drawn to this one than any of the other options.

What are your thoughts? Do you agree with my winner, or does one of the others work better for you? Let me know in the comments!

Next weeks’ theme is a book featuring a tower: ‘she was a child, the witch locked her away in a tower that had neither doors nor stairs.’

    1. I am working to avoid books I have read where I can now. I was finding myself naturally drawn the the cover I owned. Now I can judge purely on the cover!

  1. I would select cover E as it was the cover of the book I read – and thoroughly enjoyed:). This is a great choice for this week’s subject, Steve. And no… it’s not a particularly creepy book – it’s a cold war thriller.
