The Friday Face-Off is a meme originally created by Books by Proxy and now hosted over at Lynn’s Books. The idea is to compare the different covers of a book with each week being a certain theme.
This weeks’ theme is a cover that is ‘noir’: ‘He sounded like a man who had slept well and didn’t owe too much money.’
This weeks’ book is one of the all-time greats in the comic book world: Batman: Year One by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli.
Cover A:
Cover B:
Cover C:
Cover D:
Cover E:
Cover F:
This week was a little more difficult as I really liked all of the covers this week. That said, cover D edges it for me. Dark and moody, it really hits the nail on the head for the noir vibe.
What are your thoughts? Do you agree with my winner, or does one of the others work better for you? Let me know in the comments!
Next weeks’ theme is a book cover from a mystery novel: ‘The impossible could not have happened, therefore the impossible must be possible in spite of appearances.’
I prefer cover E with its background of Gotham city

That was probably my second choice!

Hard choice this one but I think I’d go for E as my favourite. I think this is one where I love all the covers.

Wow – what an inspired choice – and, yes, difficult to choose because there are some fantastic covers here. If you really pushed me I’d go for Cover C.

I own cover A and I never realized it before but it kind of looks like he is dabbing, and now that the thought is in my head I can’t get it out 😂😂 (Oh the joys of having an 11 year old brother who dabs WAY too much 😂 ) I think I am going to have to go with C or F for my choice!

mmhmm. I like C more than others. It’s got the bat logo and I just like it. I don’t read many comics but the movies are great.
