The Friday Face-Off is a meme originally created by Books by Proxy and now hosted over at Lynn’s Books. The idea is to compare the different covers of a book with each week being a certain theme.
This weeks’ theme is a cover that is from a horror novel: ‘If I cannot inspire love, I will cause fear!’
For this theme I have gone with The Dunwich Horror by H.P. Lovecraft.
Cover A:
Cover B:
Cover C:
Cover D:
Cover E:
Cover F:
And the winner is… COVER A!
I can’t entirely make out what the figure on the cover is, but at the same time it speaks to me of what I expect for Lovecraft – an indescribable horror. Dark and moody, with a mysteriousness borne of the almost indistinguishable creature.
What are your thoughts? Do you agree with my winner, or does one of the others work better for you? Let me know in the comments!
Next weeks’ theme is a book cover inspired by Halloween: ‘Trick or Treat!’
I finally found out how to pronounce Cthulhu. Anyway, I like cover E and F. I guess it’s the title’s font that stands out to me and because the cover is colourful? lol I know it has nothing to do with the horror aspect however, they both speak of terror.

I am still working on how to pronounce it. I usually console myself with the idea that he is the ultimate unspeakable horror and therefore his name is also unspeakable.

Love the topic idea! And I won’t say how many years it’s been since I’ve read Lovecraft. But Cover D was the only one that seemed familiar, so I’m choosing that one. lol

I like E best! A is just too hard to read.
