Friday Face-Off – 25th February 2022

The Friday Face-Off is a meme originally created by Books by Proxy and now hosted over at Lynn’s Books. The idea is to compare the different covers of a book with each week being a certain theme.

This week’s theme is a cover depicting a knife: “The knife is more dangerous than the hand and the knife can be in either hand.” The book for this theme is The Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman.

And the winner is… COVER C!

The knife is placed front and centre so it ticks the box fully for the theme. But it’s the background that has my eye. The ethereal, mistiness hides all manner of shapes. It adds to the intrigue.

What are your thoughts? Do you agree with my winner, or does one of the others work better for you? Let me know in the comments!

Next week’s theme is very me given my book Chasing Shadows fits this one. It’s a steampunk cover: “A clockwork heart can’t replace the real thing.”
