The Bullet That Missed by Richard Osman

It is an ordinary Thursday and things should finally be returning to normal.

Except trouble is never far away where the Thursday Murder Club is concerned. A decade-old cold case leads them to a local news legend and a murder with no body and no answers.

Then, a new foe pays Elizabeth a visit. Her mission? Kill… or be killed.

As the cold case turns white hot, Elizabeth wrestles with her conscience (and a gun), while Joyce, Ron and Ibrahim chase down clues with help from old friends and new. But can the gang solve the mystery and save Elizabeth before the murderer strikes again?

I purchased a copy of this book for my own reading.

Continuing my non-stop run through of Richard Osman’s popular series, The Man Who Died Twice brings two cases to The Thursday Murder Club along with new allies to add the gang in solving these.

The Bullet That Missed by Richard Osman

The Thursday Murder Club find themselves solving a near decade old cold case, the possible murder of a journalist investigating a serious case of fraud. Meanwhile, Elizabeth finds herself and her husband Stephen kidnapped by a mystery assailant only known as The Viking. He threatens the life of Joyce if Elizabeth doesn’t take the life of one of her past acquaintances.

As the story progresses, it seems there is some crossover. With a missing presumed dead journalist that was investigating fraud and money laundering, and one money launderer seeking to assassinate another the two cases become intertwined. Osman once again has delivered a fun mystery, or two in this case, while also maintaining an ominous air and a healthy dose of black humour to keep this cosy mystery series fresh.
