Paul Mathews returns with a new comedy series to follow his We Have Lost and Detective Trump series. An Accidental Royal Kidnap follows English teacher George Arthur Dent Nearly and the aftermath of his 39th birthday celebrations.

Waking up on the morning after the night before, George Nearly has little to no recollection as to what transpired the night before. Finding a slumbering female in his front room only adds to the confusion. Discovering that she is a member of the royal family, hell-bent on staying with him for the week to avoid a family engagement, roping George into a reverse kidnapping.

While his previous series have both featured healthy doses of conspiracy, crime and a bit of death, An Accidental Royal Kidnap is filled with drama, much like its predecessors. I found this to be a really fun read, something different from what I have read previously from Mathews, but no less enjoyable and funny. I look forward to future outings from George Nearly and his new-found friends.
