Andorra Pett and the Luna Mining Conspiracy by Richard Dee

Something is wrong on the Moon. And it’s about to spread.

Andorra Pett and Cy are having a road trip, they’ve chosen Selenville, after all, the moon is a bit of a backwater these days. Nothing much ever happens there. A bit of mining and solar power and that’s about it.

Or so they thought, a chance remark leads them on the trail of an audacious plot to destabilise the solar system and give control of everything in it to a criminal syndicate.

A plot so well hidden that nobody will believe it’s possible. This means Andorra has to find proof, and the right person to show it to.

Time is of the essence, although she doesn’t know it, her world is about to change forever.

I received a free copy of this book courtesy of the author in exchange for an honest review

Following the brilliant read that was The Sensaurum and the Lexis, Richard Dee asked if I’d be interested in reading an early draft of his upcoming Andorra Pett book, The Luna Mining Conspiracy. Having read and loved the rest of the series, there was no question in my mind I’d be reading this as well. In this latest instalment, we find Andorra making up for not spending much time of late with best friend Cy. They take a trip to the Moon. There is nothing going on there, no real tourism, so it should be a relaxing break with nothing that could possibly go wrong. Or at least, that’s the plan anyway.

The Sensaurum and the Lexis by Richard Dee

True to form, however, nothing quite goes as planned. It all starts when Andorra discovers guests using her name as an alias for seedy daliances off planet. Then she discovers factions of disent amongst the miners and workers on the Moon caused by a potential takeover of operations by the OLC, the company she works for. When assaults and violent threats are made against her and those around her she finds herself unable to avoid diving headlong into yet another mystery, dragging Cy along for the ride.

Somehow, the series feels as fresh as ever. Though the format is fairly similar across the books, it works time and again. There is a comfort knowing how things will go. But what sets the Andorra Pett series apart is the story that Dee weaves around that format. And this is no exception. It brings together more elements of Andorra’s life and background, it being a second trip to the Moon for her, while also connecting to her background as a mining scooper.

Once again, the drama that Andorra faces is entertaining without feeling overblown. The story is pacey and moves along nicely. It also neatly sets up things for the next book. I look forward to seeing what mess she finds herself in next!

Look out for Andorra Pett and the Luna Mining Conspiracy out on September 1st.
