I purchased a copy of this book for my own reading.

Having thoroughly enjoyed His Dark Materials, I was really keen to see how the story continued. Once again, I opted to go for the audio version narrated by the wonderful Ruth Wilson.

Following the frantic climax to events in the first book, things take a different complexion in The Subtle Knife. Lyra encounters Will, a boy from another version of our world. While Lyra seeks to find herself and her lost friends, Will is looking for his father and trying to protect his mother who he is sole carer for. Their chance meeting takes them on a journey to new destinations with a host of new perils. With cameos from Iorek Byrnison and Lee Scoresby while also unravelling the story of Mrs Coulter, the story is filled with intrigue and mystery.

It has its share of action and heart-string moments making for a fantastic read, and a decent second book in the series.
