Friday Face-Off is an idea originally thought up by Books By Proxy which I stole from the fantastic The Tattooed Book Geek. The idea originally was to compare UK and US covers based on an assigned theme each week and choose the winning cover. I will be twisting it slightly: not specifically US and UK covers, just different editions.
This week’s theme is a cover with a wanderer: “Nomad is an island.”
I am currently reading a fantastic fantasy book called Once Lost Lords by Stephan Morse. Earlier this week he kindly sent me his hot-off-the-press new cover art for the book, which is perfect for the book, and lent well to this theme.
Cover A:
Cover B:
Cover C:
And the winner is… COVER B!
When Stephan informed me he was working with an artist on a new cover for this book, I was excited to see what they would come up with. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was a candidate for this week’s theme. And more than that, it was my winner without doubt. It’s a brilliant cover which really fits well with the book. I have almost finished reading the book, so keep your eyes open for my review on the blog soon!
What are your thoughts? Do you agree with my winner, or does one of the others work better for you? Let me know in the comments!
Next week’s theme: 11th November – “Falling off the rails” – a cover with train tracks.
Definitely agree with your choice of cover.

Hi guys, Samantha here!
So as you all know Stephan is participating in NaNoWriMo which doesn’t leave a lot of time for new posts or content. Today’s reblog comes from Steven over at Books and Beyond Reviews where he’s awesomely featured Stephan’s covers for Royal Scales Book 1 – if you hadn’t noticed we got a sparkling brand new cover designed by Dafeenah @ IndieDesignz and we couldn’t be happier and the consensus so far on his post is that others seem to like it also!
Thank you so much, Steven, and we’re looking forward to the review!

Thank you so much, Steven! My husband and I are thrilled you wanted to use his book for your Friday Face-Off and that you agreed to the review(we can’t wait to read it!) I “designed” covers A and C and as you can tell they are very amateur! Working with our cover artist who did Stephan’s Continue Online covers was a smart move on our part as she captured the mood and atmosphere of the book way better than I could ever envision.
I’ve reblogged your post on Stephan’s WordPress, it’s just fantastic, thank you!

Hi there! Thanks for the love and support. It was my pleasure to use his book for this week’s Friday Face-Off. It’s a nice, fun little feature on the blog, but also lets people see books they may not otherwise look at. And the new cover really fitted the theme.
They are all great covers, but I really liked the lone nature of the new one – for me it captures the lone wolf attitude Jay/Jeff has about himself. I have really enjoyed reading it and hope you will love the review as much as this post! 🙂
I will shortly be in touch with Stephan as I want to broach one more idea to him for a third feature on the blog based on this book.
Thanks again for commenting, reading and reblogging!
