The Friday Face-Off is a meme originally created by Books by Proxy and now hosted over at Lynn’s Books. The idea is to compare the different covers of a book with each week being a certain theme.
This weeks’ theme is a cover featuring a medieval style: ‘Those darling bygone times… with their delicious fortresses, and their dear old dungeons, and their delightful places of torture.’
This week I picked The King of Thorns by Mark Lawrence.
Cover A:
Cover B:
Cover C:
Cover D:
Cover E:
Cover F:
And the winner is… COVER A!
I found it rather difficult to make a call on this week’s theme. For me each cover fit the billing. There was something dark in cover E. Cover B was a close second as well, but A intrigued me. The king on his throne looks troubled, yet not necessarily by all the death that literally surrounds him. I wonder what he is thinking about…
What are your thoughts? Do you agree with my winner, or does one of the others work better for you? Let me know in the comments!
Next weeks’ theme is a book cover featuring a hand or hands: ‘A Hand without a hand? A bad jape, sister.’
I couldnt decide between A and B
