The Friday Face-Off is a meme originally created by Books by Proxy and now hosted over at Lynn’s Books. The idea is to compare the different covers of a book with each week being a certain theme.
Happy New Year! Welcome to the first Friday Face-Off of 2021. It also just so happens to be my birthday today! This week’s Friday Face-Off theme is a cover that is mostly white: “She knew then that white was more than a color: It was a cold, pale shade of understanding that seems to take all of your hope away.” To start the year off I have picked After the Snow by S.D. Crockett.
Cover A Cover B Cover C Cover D Cover E Cover F
And the winner is… ITS A DRAW!
This week sees a three way tie for the win! Covers A, C and D all take the title here. A is haunting, those bare trees reaching up into the white sky. With C, having looked at the description for this book, it read as something ominous in my view. It caught my eye. And finally, with D, the cover is somewhat unsettling, I really like it.
What are your thoughts? Do you agree with my winner, or does one of the others work better for you? Let me know in the comments!
Next week’s theme is a cover with MOON in the title: “Don’t tell me the moon is shining; show me the glint of light on broken glass.”
A very wintry cover A for me.

I love cover A with the perspective looking up into the trees.
