The Friday Face-Off is a meme originally created by Books by Proxy and now hosted over at Lynn’s Books. The idea is to compare the different covers of a book with each week being a certain theme.
This week’s Friday Face-Off theme is a cover featuring an ocean: “Your heart is like the ocean, mysterious and dark.” My book for this theme is In the Heart of the Sea by Nathaniel Philbrick.
Cover A Cover B Cover C Cover D Cover E Cover F Cover G Cover H Cover I
And the winner is… COVER C!
I was immediately drawn to the art style on this one. It’s got rich colours, the scale is impressive with the enormous whale dwarfing the ship. The compass design only heightens the sense of exploration and adventure.
What are your thoughts? Do you agree with my winner, or does one of the others work better for you? Let me know in the comments!
Next week’s theme is a cover that is dressed to kill: “That night, in the dark, dressed to kill, I lost my life.”
Cover B – Love the huge tail and and the men in the sea, plus the way the sun shines through all makes for an attractive cover
