The Friday Face-Off is a meme originally created by Books by Proxy and now hosted over at Lynn’s Books. The idea is to compare the different covers of a book with each week being a certain theme.
This week’s Friday Face-Off theme is a cover from a book that is gothic: “I knew that sound well too. It was the beating of the old man’s heart. It increased my fury, as the beating of a drum stimulates the soldier into courage.” My pick for this week’s book is Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein.
Cover A Cover B Cover C Cover D Cover E Cover F Cover G Cover H Cover I
And the winner is… COVER B!
Another win for cover B this week. The art style is simple, yet filled with emotion. I love the way it depicts the monster seeing himself and truly realising who and what he is.
What are your thoughts? Do you agree with my winner, or does one of the others work better for you? Let me know in the comments!
Next week’s theme is a cover from a sci-fi novel: “Nothing travels faster than the speed of light, with the possible exception of bad news, which obeys its own special laws.”
I agree, cover B and same reason as you.

The illustration in cover B is really creative, but cover G gets my attention more. The overall design feels old-fashioned, and that illustration is amazing.
