The Friday Face-Off is a meme originally created by Books by Proxy and now hosted over at Lynn’s Books. The idea is to compare the different covers of a book with each week being a certain theme.

This week’s theme is a cover from a book depicting a sport: “It’s a game of two halves.” This week’s book is Terry Pratchett’s Unseen Academicals.

And the winner is… COVER B!

I always run into the same problem every time I feature a Pratchett novel – each book seems to have a fantastic array of covers all worthy of credit on the Friday Face-Off. Personally, covers C, E and I are worthy of honourable mentions. But B is the standout winner this week for me. It’s a classic cover that I immediately recognise. I love the team photo vibe to it, and the menacing look of the Librarian as he holds firmly onto the ball.
