The Friday Face-Off is a meme originally created by Books by Proxy and now hosted over at Lynn’s Books. The idea is to compare the different covers of a book with each week being a certain theme.
This week’s theme is a book cover that depicts a school: “Wisdom is not a product of schooling but of the lifelong attempt to acquire it.” The book for this week’s theme is Matilda by Roald Dahl.

And the winner is… COVER G!
So I’ve moderately twisted this one. All the books and so on, they kind of nod to a school so it’s good enough for me. It’s a Quentin Blake which, growing up in the UK, is the classic artwork for a Roald Dahl book. This version took the cake (pun intended) for me with the depiction of Trunchbull. That said, Cover I does get a mention from me – there is something Tim Burtonesque about it.
What are your thoughts? Do you agree with my winner, or does one of the others work better for you? Let me know in the comments!
Next week’s theme is a cover that is mostly blue: “It is early, early morning. It’s that time when it’s still dark but you know the day is coming. Blue is bleeding through black. Stars are dying.”
I struggled this week so: A, B, D, E, F, G for me. All of those are very iconic of Roal Dahl and not a penny to choose between them.
