The Friday Face-Off is a meme originally created by Books by Proxy and now hosted over at Lynn’s Books. The idea is to compare the different covers of a book with each week being a certain theme.
This week’s theme is a cover that is mostly black: “I see a red door and I want it painted black. No colours anymore, I want them to turn black” This week’s book is The Black Company by Glen Cook.

And the winner is… IT’S A DRAW!
Cover A inspires thoughts of the occult. It’s dark and menacing, but also very intriguing. Cover G makes me think of an epic fantasy filled with swords and sorcery. Both covers would draw me in and make me want to read this book.
What are your thoughts? Do you agree with my winner, or does one of the others work better for you? Let me know in the comments!
Next week’s theme is a cover that depicts a vampire: “How do we seem to you? Do you find us beautiful and magical? Our white skin, our fierce eyes? ‘Drink,’ you ask me. Do you have any idea of the things you will become?”
Cover E – The black skies, the towers looming up, the hooded character over all of it with the dagger and the splashes of blood all very threatening.
