The Friday Face-Off is a meme originally created by Books by Proxy and now hosted over at Lynn’s Books. The idea is to compare the different covers of a book with each week being a certain theme.
This week’s Friday Face-Off theme is a cover featuring a tower: “May you find your Tower, Roland, and breach it, and may you climb to the top!” This week I’ve returned to Stephen King, and unsurprisingly it’s the book the quote comes from, the opening book from the incredible Dark Tower series, The Gunslinger.

And the winner is… COVER D!
I absolutely love this book series. It’s a real departure from his usual horror works. Throughout the series, the leading character Roland Deschain, the titular gunslinger, strikes out on a quest to reach The Dark Tower. Cover D is really striking to me. The gunslinger staring out across the wastes toward the looming tower in the distance. It speaks volumes in the context of the story.
What are your thoughts? Do you agree with my winner, or does one of the others work better for you? Let me know in the comments!
Next week’s theme is a cover featuring a bird: “The bird who dares to fall is the bird who learns to fly.”
Cover D – absolutely agree with you, the lone figure and the desolate landscape with the tower in the distance speaks volumes, love this series
