The Friday Face-Off is a meme originally created by Books by Proxy and now hosted over at Lynn’s Books. The idea is to compare the different covers of a book with each week being a certain theme.
This week’s theme is a cover from a book that is an urban fantasy: “If I couldn’t be a good example, I’d just have to be a horrible warning.”

And the winner is… COVER B!
Though my announcement of the winner is pretty emphatic, it wasn’t as straightforward a win. First, let’s talk about the winner. I love this story. The notion of a society of people, unnoticed, unseen, that slip through the cracks into London Below. I love the dark, ethereal vibe to it. The ghostly appearance alludes to the notion of the unseen. Honourable mentions go to I which implies an idea of the normal world flipped, as well as cover E. I love the art of Chris Riddell.
What are your thoughts? Do you agree with my winner, or does one of the others work better for you? Let me know in the comments!
Next week’s theme is a book with a cover featuring a flower: “Know that someday I will travel to the Dark Tower at the End-World, set off in its field of roses… That I will walk to the Red Fields of None and there I will call out the names of all my fallen comrades.”
Cover D – love the underground tunnel leading to where????
