The Friday Face-Off is a meme initially created by Books by Proxy and is now hosted over at Lynn’s Books. The idea is to compare a book’s different covers with a specific theme each week.
This week’s theme is a cover that is mostly red: “Put on your red shoes and dance the blues!” This week’s book is The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger.

And the winner is… COVER I!
Cover I has a pattern that I really liked. The red and black are quite striking. Sometimes the covers with loud designs don’t always work for me, especially when I don’t know much about the book. I think the cover would really stand out on a shelf of books.
What are your thoughts? Do you agree with my winner, or does one of the others work better for you? Let me know in the comments!
Next week’s theme is a cover that depicts a gang/group of people: “We’re putting the band back together!”
Cover D is my winner – Love the plain dark blue background and the beautiful gold writing with dramatic flourishes on the lettering, simple but very effective.
