The Friday Face-Off is a meme originally created by Books by Proxy and now hosted over at Lynn’s Books. The idea is to compare the different covers of a book with each week being a certain theme.
This week’s cover theme is a cover featuring a sunrise or sunset: “The sunrise was the colour of bad blood.”
This week I’ve returned to firm favourite author, Stephen King, and his book of short stories – Just After Sunset.
Cover A:
Cover B:
Cover C:
Cover D:
Cover E:
Cover F:
Cover G:
Cover H:
And the winner is… IT’S A DRAW!
Covers B and D share the spoils for me this week. Cover B is beautiful in its simplicity. And I really like the blurring to the design as well, really appealing in my view. Cover D has that wonderful orange colouring throughout. The lone figure on the platform is intriguing, and the long shadow stretching towards the bottom of the book is a nice touch.
What are your thoughts? Do you agree with my winner, or does one of the others work better for you? Let me know in the comments!
Next week’s theme is a cover that is predominantly blue: “How sweet to be a cloud, floating in the blue.”
similar to you, Like cover B, just enough blurring and the sun set to make think this is not your normal book
