The Friday Face-Off is a meme originally created by Books by Proxy and now hosted over at Lynn’s Books. The idea is to compare the different covers of a book with each week being a certain theme.
This week’s Friday Face-Off theme is a cover featuring a dark road – “the road goes ever on and on.” I’ve picked Cormac McCarthy’s The Road for this week’s Friday Face-Off theme.
Cover A Cover B Cover C Cover D Cover E Cover F Cover G
And the winner is… COVER B!
I’m not a massive fan of movie tie-in covers, so all of these were out of contention. The angle and composition are imposing in their own right. The image being in negative only enhances the atmosphere. Close second is Cover G – I absolutely love the art style.
What are your thoughts? Do you agree with my winner, or does one of the others work better for you? Let me know in the comments!

Cover B for me too this week, looks slightly haunting

Oh yes – Cover B is a great design and works really well. And I like Cover G very much – the only snag is that it reminds me a bit too much of folks I see staggering around Tescos these days, all masked up and gripping their shopping trolleys…

Covers E, D or F for me. I like all three quite equally 😀
